Special outings include holiday celebrations, beach trips,
fishing trips, Beaverton's Summerfest Parade and more.

Physical exercises include:
- Larger group exercise is available for residents who
are able to follow directions without much cueing.
- Movement
groups are held on each unit for residents who
need more “one-on-one” attention and where success
is measured with less difficulty. Those classes meet twice

with a “good-old-days” approach. This stimulates
thoughts and opinions and helps residents remember times
gone by and compare them to the world today.

are available for residents who may have a higher cognitive
decline, These programs help residents
generate focus by following simple commands or identifying
colors and objects.
Crafts
Craft activities include ceramics, baking, gardening,
and quilting, Our residents and staff also make beautiful
items for the annual Maryville Christmas
Bazaar.

These craft projects generate pride in learning a new
skill and building self-esteem when articles are sold, cookies
are enjoyed by visiting guests, or when a
resident
receives
praise during a class.
Music
Music
is essential for living.
Music creates rhythm, evokes
memories and encourages singing and foot tapping.
Our residents
enjoy listening to music during their evening meal and when “hands
on” crafts are being performed.

We welcome guest artists and musicians.
We also have sing-alongs
and songfests with children and adult
groups
in our area.
In addition, a bell choir from the local area entertains
our residents on a regular basis.

Visits
We have frequent visits from students at the three schools
on our campus: Little Flower Development Center (our preschool),
St. Mary
of
the Valley School (K-6) and Valley Catholic School (7-12).
We also welcome students from local high schools and colleges
who have chosen to complete their schools’ community
service hours requirement at Maryville.
