Jesus Jamboree 2004:
Have You Got The Spirit! |

"Have You Got The Spirit!" was the call for 66 campers who joined 18 Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon at Camp Howard (near Sandy and Corbett) for the third annual Jesus Jamboree, which was held from July 11-16, 2004.
A number of the campers have taken part in the Jesus Jamboree in prior years. In fact, eight of this year's campers have attended the Jesus Jamboree each year that it has been held. |

Campers attended Mass each day. Music was led by Sister Adele Marie Altenhofen, Sister Juanita Villareal, Sister Marianne Geisel and Sister Denise Klaas.
One of the highlights of this year's Jesus Jamboree was a visit from Archbishop John Vlazny (seen in the photo on the right), who offered Mass to campers and counselors.

Campers attended morning sessions where they learned about the church and saints from Korea, Italy and North American Indians. Sister Barbara Rose Sohler shared her experiences of traveling to Korea. Deacon Peter O'Brien of Mt. Angel Seminary told the story of Korean martyrs and other saints from the East. Sister John Therese Miller told the story of St. Francis of Assisi . Anna Nassib of Central Catholic High School explained Italian culture and taught campers to pray in Italian. |

Afternoons were filled with games, swimming, and arts and crafts (including writing and painting icons from a selection of Our Lady, Jesus the Teacher, St. Francis of Assisi and the Archangel Michael). Sister Denise Klaas taught campers to create beautiful sounds playing handbells. |

Jesus Jamboree is for campers in third through eighth grades.
It has been so successful that the Sisters and CYO staff are already making plans for the fourth annual Jesus Jamboree, which will be held next summer. |
