We, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, living as women of prayer in simplicity and sisterly love, are called to be compassionate, joyful servants of the Lord.

We profess the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, and obedience in response to a divine call to live for God alone.

We build our spiritual life around daily Mass and Liturgy of the Hours, the universal prayer of the Church.

Each Sister spends at least an hour daily in private prayer, which may include mediation, spiritual reading, the rosary, and other private devotions.  With Mary as our patroness, we celebrate her feast days in special ways.

We make an annual retreat and affirm the need for extended periods of time to engage more fully in prayer and reflection.  Recollection Day provides an opportunity on a monthly basis to focus on our commitment as religious Sisters in community.

Prayer requests

Outside our chapel door is a “prayer bulletin board” on which we post the prayer requests of the Sisters, our families and friends. If you would like to make a request for prayers, please contact us at prayers@ssmo.org.
