Vocations new

Are you called to religious life? Visiting a Community of Sisters can be a meaningful way to discern your vocation.

Vocation Thursdays

On Vocation Thursdays, you’ll have the opportunity to pray, discern and learn more about your vocation.

Start adoration by praying the rosary with the Sisters and silent prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Then meet our Sisters. Ask questions about religious life and their experiences as Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon.

Vocation Thursdays are held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon in Beaverton.

Fiat Women’s Retreats: Come pray, listen and discern with the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon.

Are you:

  • A single Catholic woman over age 18?
  • Seeking a deeper prayer life?
  • Open to God’s call?

Our two-day Fiat Retreat offers time for Catholic women to deepen their faith and better discern God’s call in their lives. Fiat is translated from Latin as “Let it be done.”

SSMO Vocation Director Sr. Michael Francine Duncan and other Sisters will journey with you, incorporating scripture, song and God’s gift of nature on the beautiful grounds of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon campus in Beaverton.

At this time, six retreats have been scheduled for 2017:

  • January 20-22, 2017
  • March 10-12, 2017
  • May 19-21, 2017
  • September 22-24, 2017
  • October 27-29, 2017
  • December 1-3, 2017

The retreat starts on Friday afternoon/evening. Participants are invited to arrive at 4 p.m. for orientation and room assignment, pray the evening Liturgy of the Hours with the Sisters’ community and join the Sisters for dinner. The retreat session starts at 6:30 p.m. The retreat ends with Sunday Mass and a retreat session, followed by lunch, which concludes at 1 p.m.
