Sr. Paula Fox: In her own words
The seed of my call to follow Christ as a religious Sister, I believe, was the admiration and love I had for the Sisters who taught me in grades one through 10. I was inspired by the cheerful way they lived a very sacrificial life of work and prayer. My mother’s deep faith nurtured my love of my faith.
In the years that followed, I experienced powerful opposition to my being a religious Sister, starting with my father.
While working as a teacher in a public school, I deeply missed being in a faith-filled atmosphere. When I started teaching in a Catholic school, I found the atmosphere of faith. The kindness of the Sisters with staff opened a door to my entering the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon at the end of the school year.
As a Sister of St. Mary of Oregon, I found much joy in serving as a teacher, principal, pastoral associate, superior and Director of Pastoral Care.
Now, in retirement I feel very blessed by having the support of my Sisters as I prayerfully “cram for my finals.”
