Discerning Your Call

We, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, share in the mission of Jesus by proclaiming the Good News of God’s love.

Since 1886, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon have been committed to compassionate, joyful service. They have dedicated their lives and ministry to community care through faith and action.

The first step into religious life is prayer. Discerning your call can be a long journey. This means it is important to surround yourself with people who can support you through prayer and mentorship.

If you believe you are experiencing God’s call, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon can help you navigate the discernment process. Contact our vocations director by email at [email protected] with your questions.

Answering your call

To answer the call to religious life is to respond to a distinctive desire to live simply, serve generously, and grow spiritually.

The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon live as women of prayer in simplicity and sisterly love. They are women who are called to be compassionate, joyful servants of the Lord.

Many of our Sisters’ callings started as a whisper to seek something more. Through prayer and community, our Sisters have found joy in their vocations of education, health care and more.

Our Mother Mary responded to God’s call to trust, ponder, and accept the Word. We invite you to get away from the busyness of life, pray, and experience God’s call.
